On the Anniversary of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Ex-President’s Announcement of Candidacy
Two years ago, President Biden won the election because of his positive vision for the future of our country.
One year ago, President Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal into law. This groundbreaking investment came on top of the American Rescue Plan, which enabled school buildings and businesses to reopen and over 200,000,000 vaccines to be distributed. The infrastructure bill has already led to $1.7 billion in announced transportation, climate change mitigation, and broadband internet projects in Utah and Nevada and $3.2 billion in Arizona. Across our nation, we have seen $185 billion announced for 7,000 distinct projects touching 30,000 communities.
We have real challenges facing our country, but as shown by the last two years, we can meet them. Cutting taxes for the super-wealthy, gutting Social Security or Medicare, rolling back long-cherished rights, or making homes unaffordable will not tame inflation. We must continue to build the economy from the middle out and bottom-up, including addressing the costs of housing, education, and health care.
As for the twice-impeached ex-president’s political announcement? His own party leaders refer to the “chaos” and “negativity” brought by him and his hand-picked MAGA candidates. We continue to invite Republicans of goodwill to join us in protecting our democracy and working for the general welfare of all.
