We offer our heartfelt congratulations to President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris! Their ticket has received more votes than any other ticket in United States history. It also marks the election of the first female, first Black, and first South Asian Vice President and the second Catholic President.
We look forward to having an administration that will protect faith communities, that will welcome the stranger, that will stand up for the values of the Utah Compromise on religious freedom and the Utah Compact on immigration. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will protect our access to affordable healthcare, address the ongoing pandemic, and lead with character and integrity in unifying our nation. As Moody’s and other analysts have found, the Biden-Harris administration will do more to help all families achieve self-sufficiency, particularly if Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff win their January elections. We are particularly excited about the leadership we will see in tackling climate change, taking significant steps to mitigate the harms we have caused to God’s creations.
We appreciate the support we have received from Latter-day Saints in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and across the nation, including over 1,600 public endorsers, as well as respectful engagement from the Biden campaign. The membership of the Church is politically diverse, which is why it is critical that future political campaigns respect the Church’s neutrality and avoid exploiting our sacred symbols and shared faith.
